The hotel is also well served by transportation with trains & light-rail from Central Station and from 2020 there will be a tram running from our doorstep which will go directly to Circular Quay where you will find the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and The Rocks.

RENOVATION - UPGRADE NOTICE

2018 – 2019 UPGRADE NOTICE
2nd October 2018 through to 31st October 2019

GSH Sydney DA has been approved to add 9 rooms (conversion of Executive Rooms and Family Rooms to Standard Rooms) and we will be replacing Thomas Street Lift (Lift #3) entirely.

Construction of additional rooms to the building throughout various floors – maximum 10 rooms out of order at any given time. (October 2018 – June 2019 inclusive)

Thomas Street Lift (Lift #3) will be out of action for 6 months – we anticipate this project will commence March and be completed September (May 2019 – October 2019).

With this major project you should anticipate:

  • Varied noise levels between the hours of 7:00am and 6.00pm daily. Some noise levels may be loud or repetitive at times.
  • Work crews do not work on Sunday unless they experience weather delays.
  • There may be limited access to the buildings and courtyard at various times. Please be respectful of “Construction Zones.”
  • The owners and management of the Great Southern Hotel Sydney appreciate your cooperation as we upgrade the property for your future enjoyment.

Construction works outside of the Hotel has commenced– the development is located directly across the road from the Great Southern Hotel.  Project Managers advise works to begin from March 2017 – completion 2020. These works are out of our control.
