The Great Southern Hotel Melbourne (GSH-Melbourne) is a busy 4-star hotel located in the heart of Melbourne CBD. We are seeking an experienced and reliable Casual Maintenance / Handyperson to join our team.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, has strong attention to detail and is committed to maintaining a safe, comfortable and well-presented hotel for our guests
Key responsibilities
- Carrying out general maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel
- Assisting with plumbing, carpentry, painting, grouting and other general maintenance tasks
- Conducting preventative maintenance and addressing maintenance issues promptly
- Maintaining hotel facilities, rooms and common areas to a high standard
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues that require further attention
- Supporting the wider hotel team with maintenance-related requests
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to guests
About you
- Previous experience in a general maintenance, handyperson or similar role
- Practical knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry and general repairs
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- A proactive, self-motivated and hands-on approach
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A reliable and professional work ethic
- The ability to prioritise tasks and respond effectively to maintenance requests
- A commitment to maintaining high standards and providing excellent service
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, with 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM shifts preferred
